SEO Blues Part 3. Social Bookmarking

At first I wanted to join social bookmarking and social networking section but then decided to split into separate sections. Today we are going to discuss new fashion trend in website promotion – social bookmarking. And I am even going to reveal one of the “secrets” that some people are paying for but this time for free.

I think not many people need introduction to the Social Bookmarking, but to mention a few – Digg, Stumble, Squidoo, etc (see icons at the bottom of this post). If you want more information just search them up.

For people who do know how it works and always wondered how some webmasters state that they can get visitors from these types of sites I can give some insides on articles and eBooks on offer.

Social bookmarking is just a website where you can create a “micropage” about something you have found on the Net. Well, that was the initial idea. But as usual it turned (mostly) into sort of a promotion tool used by webmasters to get visitors. When you create an account on one of the websites your are given a chance to bookmark the page you like and add a short review. But with thousands of daily bookmarks, how to make your page to stand out? The way thought by the owners was: users built their references slowly and acquire sort of popularity, when ordinary visitors with same interests often check the links of particular user. But this way is not suitable for the quick success and for cheap advertising. The secret, revealed in “get easy money” eBooks uses simple feature of social bookmarking websites – tagging. When you create a review or a page you can add number of keywords – tags. Then if user is interested in certain type of information, website provides at the bottom of the page “similar links”. Did you get the idea? Well, it’s really simple, some webmasters study tags from popular pages or used by popular bookmarkers and simply copy them into their own page. As a result they are getting traffic (I call it make-believe or residual traffic) from popular pages by using completely identical tags. The above is that very “secret” offered for sale in many related eBooks, enjoy!
